He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Schmidt Jr. and Verona Schmidt (Luedtke); his brother Edward R. Schmidt; and his niece Sara Schmidt. He is survived by: his brothers, Darrel (Mary Schmidt) and David (Marla Schmidt); and his close friend Mary Ree (David Rike) of Burt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is graciously donating the property to Kossuth County Conservation.
