He is survived by: his sibling Rivers; his children, John Thompson of Lone Rock, Michael Thompson (Stacy) of Burt, Ann Thompson of Burt and David Thompson (Melissa) of West Liberty; his siblings, Eugene Thompson of Lone Rock and Julie Ann Lindsay of Centerville, MN; and his close friend Sharon Stewart of Richfield, MN.. He is also survived by seven grandsons.
