It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kirk Mathis of Burlington, Iowa, born in Shenandoah, Iowa, who passed away on September 25, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Mathis and Lucille Mathis (Swanson); his in-laws, Clifford and Genevieve Gowing; and his siblings-in-law, Kevin Gowing and Kim Saner.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Gowing; his sons, T. J. Mathis (Jill) of Danville and Joel Mathis (Becky) of Libertyville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Lucy, Logan and Adam Mathis; his brothers, Greg Mathis (Francoise) of Council Bluffs, Tim Mathis of Shenandoah and Jeff Mathis (Margie) of Wellsville, Kansas; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Bayless (Dennis) of Shenandoah, Jolinda Gowing of Clarinda and Jeff Saner of Shenandoah, Iowa.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
