He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Mitchell and Willie Mae Belcher Mitchell; his sisters, Barbara White and Ruby Brown; and his daughter Renee Woodson.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Louise Mitchell of Burlington; his children, Sebastian Juan Mitchell (Vicki) of Batavia, IL and Tawanda Berry of Phoenix, AZ; and his brother Charles Mitchell (Talethia) of Burlington. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Prugh Funeral Service (3940 Division St, Burlington, IA 52601).

A memorial has been established for New Hope Christian Church.
