Gary L. Turnbull Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gary L. Turnbull in Burlington, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 16, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Turnbull and Verlo Turnbull (Pettit); his parents-in-law, Fred Eid and Retta Eid; his siblings-in-law, Ruth Eid and Jeff Woelfel; and his nephew Raymond Eid.
He is survived by: his former wife Linda Olomon; his son Michael Lowary (Theresa) of Burlington, IA.; his significant other Karen Eid; his children, Shaun Turnbull (Amber Symmonds) of Fort Madison and Shana Sanders (Rod) of West Point; his grandchildren, Austin Lowary, Kayla Bundy (Tyler), Cayden Lowary of Burlington, IA, Krysta Young, Reiburn, Reilynn Turnbull of Fort Madison, Mason, Bianca and Skyler Sanders of West Point, IA; his great grandchildren, Kara, Lila, Maizy Bundy, Ryker, Jaxson, Harmony Landrum and Aeliana Lowary; his siblings, Myrna Galbraith (Jan), Terri Crowley (Steve) of Burlington, IA, Raymond Turnbull (Jenny) of Cleveland, TN and Robert Turnbull (Cheryl) of Omaha, NE; and his siblings-in-law, Debbie Eid, Vickie Smith, Kathy Geissler (Jerry), Donna Lippy (Ron), Linda Eid-Woelfel, David Eid (Jeannie) and Kenny Eid (Rosie). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the King-Lynk Funeral Home (3507 Avenue L, Fort Madison, IA 52627). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. Gary lost his battle with liver cancer after a three-year roller coaster ride of suffering and perseverance as he dealt with multiple illnesses culminating from his COVID-19 shot, then contracting COVID-19, then getting the booster, and once again contracting COVID-19.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gary's name to Fort Madison Christian Church, Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch or Lee County Hospice.
