Barbara S. Akers Obituary

We are sad to announce that on July 4, 2024, at the age of 66, Barbara S. Akers of Burlington, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Douglas Allen and Bonnie Jean Distelhorst Wyss; and her brother Ronald Wyss. She is survived by: her daughters, Rachel Kemp (Nick) of DeForest and Ashley Gelsthorpe (Josh) of Ft. Madison; her stepson Jerry Akers Jr. of West Point; her grandchildren, Nathan Kemp, Natalie Kemp, Norah Kemp, Nolan Kemp, Conner Gelsthorpe, Lillian Gelsthorpe and Leah Gelsthorpe; her sister Tammy Yotter (David) of Mediapolis; and her friend Robert E. Schneider of Burlington.

A memorial has been established for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
