He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Buckner and Joy Buckner; and his pets, Roxie and Zeus. He is survived by: his wife Valarie Buckner; his daughter Alexandria (Best); his son-in-law Scott; his foster children, Oscar and Maggie; his sisters, Lori Johnson (Joel) and Kathy Jensen (Brian); his nephews, Mason Gall and Anthony Morris; and his sister-in-law Cindy Timmerman.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
