He is survived by: his friend Phil Benn; his former wife Amber Koskovich; his wife Ginger Dearing; his stepchildren, Keven Dearing (Coney) of Buffalo Center, IA, Kristen Askeland (Dale) of Northfield, MN, Stacey White (Chad) of Faribault, MN, Rebecca Brown (Greg) of Minneapolis, MN and Paul Lally (Jill) of Savage, MN; his grandchildren, Leshia Viergutz (Jared), Jeb Kothenbeutel (Savana), Hailey Finger (Blake), Brooke Askeland, Paige Larson (Colton), Shelby White (Dan), Leo Brown and Ian Brown; his great grandchildren, Mia Viergutz, Tarra Viergutz, Ady Kothenbeutel and Barrett Kothenbeutel; his sister Joyce Dearing (Brenda); his siblings-in-law, Bob Johnson (Jolene), Susan Crandall, Paulette Hutchinson and Frank Strom; and his cousin John Oftedahl (Tupe).

After losing a family friend to Covid and out of concern for the safety of others, Ron requested that masks be worn by those attending his visitation and funeral.
