He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Mastin; his parents, Nels Hanson and Olga Hanson (Erdahl); and his siblings, Hannah (Toquam), Tilmer and Norma (Bilau).
He is survived by: his sons, Paul (Diane) of Eden Prairie and Todd (Heidi) of Lino Lakes; and his grandchildren, Jacob (Kayla) of St. Louis Park, Emily of Hopkins, Jessica of St. Louis and Matthew of Lino Lakes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, Iowa.
