He is survived by: his wife Jean of Buffalo Center; his children, Paul Maass (Melody) of Waukesha, WI, John Maass (Sarah) of Fairfax, MN, Michael Maass (Crystal) of Buffalo Center and Amy Maass of Dike, IA; his daughter-in-law Linda Troyer-Maass; his siblings, DeWayne (Berneice) of Buffalo Center and Verna Gifford of Kearney, NE; and his brothers-in-law, Harold Bennett Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL and Kenneth Hartranft of Clearwater Beach, FL. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Dell Lutheran Church Missions in Gerhald's name.
