He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Hippen and Everdena Hippen; his sister JoAnn Hippen; his uncle Fred; and his aunt Anna Frerichs.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred (Midge); his daughter Bethany Cross (Rick) of Des Moines; his grandsons, Mason, Marshall and Myles; his daughter Amy Knowles (Russell) of Sumner; his grandchildren, Amanda, Kristin and Matthew; his daughter Hilary Hippen-Leek (Nathan) of Urbandale, Iowa; his brother Lyle Hippen (Sharon) of Buffalo Center; and his friend Duane Boehm of Buffalo Center. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Reformed Church, the United Hospital District Hospice in Blue Earth, Minnesota, or the nonprofit organization of your choice.
