He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester James and Phyllis Ann Port Petersen; and his brother Dennis Lee Petersen. He is survived by: his wife Rita Kriegel of Brooklyn; his children, Nicole Pixley of Colorado Springs, Kristi Petersen of Grinnell, Jesse Petersen of Montezuma, Cody Petersen of Kansas City, Kiara Petersen of New Braunfels, Jennifer Hildebrand (Mike) of Brooklyn, Heather Ochs of Brooklyn and Angie Riddell (Jay) of Sparland, Illinois; his brother Brent Petersen (Diane) of Avoca; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Allison Hildebrand, Madison, Mason Maschmann, Ryan, Cooper Riddell and Greyson Petersen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
