He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gjerstad and Frances Gjerstad-Gast. He is survived by: his brothers, Ron Gjerstad (Cindy) of Jackson and Curt Gast (Kristi) of Britt; and his nieces and nephews, Garrett, Marianne Gjerstad of Lee, Summit, Kelsey, John Koenig, Heather, Mike Francis, Brent, Tara Gast, Ashley, Chris Hejlik, LCpl Robert and San Diego.
In lieu of flowers, Gary asked that memorial contributions be made to the Britt Lions Club or the River City Barbershop Choir and sent to the attention of his family to Ewing Funeral Home, P.O. Box 342, Britt, IA 50423.
