She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Merz and Marie Merz (Berg); her brother Jimmy Merz; and her siblings-in-law, Keith Baker, Elizabeth Merz and Barb Merz.
She is survived by: her husband Merrill Lucas of Brighton, Iowa; her children, Monica Lawson (Mike) of Altoona and Nathan Lucas (Tanya) of Washington, Iowa; her grandchildren, Adam Lawson, Ashley Pacha (Colton) and Hunter Lucas; and her siblings, Bob Merz of Burnsville, Minnesota, Lauralee Baker of Marion, Iowa, Claudette Coffman (Jim) of Iowa City, Iowa, Elizabeth Nolz (Andy) of Marion, Iowa, John Merz (Dorothy) of Littleton, Colorado and Joe Merz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lake Darling State Park Lodge (111 Lake Darling Rd, Brighton, IA 52540).
On September 17, 2017, Sue was given a second chance at life through organ donation via a heart transplant. She greatly appreciated the gift of organ donation.
