He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Cleo and Ruth Kathryn Trier (Pickens); his sisters, Margaret Brown and Karen Schantz; and his granddaughter Tymber.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Cobb of Brighton; his daughter Erin Wade (Riley) of Brighton; his siblings, John Trier (Nancy) of Dublin, Sharon Niffenegger (Gail) of Washington and Joeyln Zickefoose of Brighton; and his grandchildren, Cashden, Ryen, Teage and Grady.

In lieu of flowers, a general memorial in the name of Richard "Dick" Trier has been established.
