Michael Lee Davis Reed Obituary

Michael Reed, 46, of Brayton, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Michael Lee Davis Reed was born January 21, 1975 in Murray, Kentucky to Betty (Reed) James and Jerry Davis Reed. He grew up in Aurora, Kentucky with Betty’s older daughter, his half-sister, Debbie. He also had 2 other older half-siblings from Jerry’s previous relationship. Michael spent his childhood racing bicycles and getting into mischief with his childhood best friend, Sonny Joe. During his adolescent years, Michael moved to Phoenix, Arizona and went to high school at Maryvale High. After high school, he moved to Loftland, Nevada, where he was briefly married and had one daughter, Stephanie Marie Reed.
Michael moved to Iowa in 1999 and started his life long career at Henningsen Const., Inc. This is where he met best friend and life-long partner, Alisa. He made countless friends throughout the years doing what he loved, building roads.
Michael’s hobbies included riding & working on his ’09 Softail Deluxe, building firearms, fishing and cruising around in his low rider Caddy. He especially loved loading up the dogs and going for a ride. Michael had a special place in his heart for all his animals. Michael enjoyed spending time with his step daughter, Desiree, teaching her how to shoot guns, ride 4-wheelers and build furniture.
Michael is proceeded in death by his father, Jerry, his niece, Shawna and brother-in-law, Rick Lillard.
Michael is survived by his wife, Alisa, his daughter, Stephanie, step-daughter, Desiree and mother & step father, Betty & Clancey James.
A visitation with family present will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 at Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic from 9-11AM with service to follow. A luncheon will be held following the service, location TBA.
