He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Wald and Regina Wald; his son-in-law Rod Shelgren; and his brother Fredrick Wald. He is survived by: his wife Sue of John's Catholic Church; his child Valinda "Lindy" Shelgren of Humboldt; his grandchildren, Machensey Shelgren (Colin Chabot) and Brady Shelgren (Madi Frideres); his child Leslynn Kleespies (Tom) of Longmont; his grandchildren, Bailey and Clay Kleespies; his child Kaylene Lang (Scott) of Fort Dodge; his grandchildren, Bennett Lang, Thomas Lang (Emilie Wendell) and Gabriel Lang; his son Joel Wald (Vanessa Whittle) of Vienna; his grandchildren, Ayden and Rosemary Wald; his child Kristelle Caquelin (Jason) of Longmont; his grandchildren, Sydney, Taryn and Brooke Caquelin; his child Cale Wald of Humboldt; and his sister Mary Ann Gawtry (Rich) of Lincoln. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
