He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter L. Shuey and Margaret Shuey (DeVoogd); his daughter Debra Shuey; and his siblings, Elmo Shuey, Kenneth Shuey, Lois Ades, Ruth McPherson, Bev Clam and Mary Sundahl.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Shuey of Boone; his daughters, Kathy Tracy (Michael) of Chillicothe, MO and Carol Shuey of LuVerne, IA; his grandchildren, John Betts IV (Faith) of Livermore, IA and Annabel Shuey of LuVerne, IA; and his great grandchild Theo Sells of Livermore, IA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
