He was predeceased by: his father Earl Oakley; his grandparents, J. Petersen (McCaskey), Jack and Opal McCaskey; and his wife Murt Petersen.
He is survived by: his children, Jon Petersen (Vicki) of Norwalk and Angela Dose (Shawn) of Sioux Falls, SD; his stepsons, Chad McDowell (Rachel) and Brian McDowell (Monica); his grandchildren, Kyle Dose, Kennedy Dose and Austin Petersen; and his great grandchild Landyn Dose.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
