He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernice Thielen (Kerwin) and Bernard Thielen; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Magdalen Rauenhorst; and his brothers-in-law, Lieutenant Leo Rauenhorst, Richard Nelsen and Richard Miller.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Thielen; his children, Mary Clark (Jerry), David Thielen, Michael Thielen, Brenda Schwager (Neal), Matthew Thielen (Stephanie) and Daniel Thielen; his grandchildren, Sarah Burgess (Jimmy), Daniel Clark (Raquel), Katherine Clark, Jessica Porterfield (C. J.), Sam Thielen, Magdalen Thielen, Luke Schwager (Sarah), Clare, Julia, Joanna, Gretchen, Cecilia Schwager, Tomas Thielen, Nick Thielen and Hannah Thielen; his sister Mary Jo Nelsen of Cozad, Nebraska; and his parents-in-law, Harold, Lorraine Hassing, Mildred Miller, Ray and Sharon Rauenhorst. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
