He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Gustafson and Edna Gustafson (Nelson); his wife Janet Hoesly; and his sisters, Evelyn Anderson, Gladys Johnson and Marjorie Smith.

He is survived by: his sons, Steve Gustafson (Lisa), Larry Gustafson (Melody) of Boone and Dennis Gustafson (Deborah) of Norwalk; his grandchildren, Jeremy Gustafson (Kelly), Sara McDonald (Wes), David Gustafson (Jen), Crystal Schiermeister (Justin), Denae Vetterick (Chris), Caitlin Jacobsen (Kyle), Pierce Gustafson (Amanda) and Benett Gustafson (Amber); and his great grandchildren, Michael, Gracie, Dylan, Sophie, Trinity, Emme, Hadley, Tytus, Silas, Halle, Aayla, Cooper, Ethan, Greysen and Kenzie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Evangelical Free Church or Israel Hospice House through the Mary Greeley Medical Foundation.
