He was predeceased by: his parents, George F. Ahrens and Margaret I. Ahrens (Stevens); his sister Janice Neese (James); and his stepdaughter Julie De Vogd. He is survived by: his wife Martha "Toby" Ahrens of Boone; his sons, Travis Givens (Stacey) of Ankeny and Todd Givens (Diana) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Vanessa, Kinnick, Hayden and Savannah Givens; his siblings, Robert "Bob" Ahrens of Boone and Joyce Myers of Boone; and his pets, Bear and Jack. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
