She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Carlson and Nellie Carlson; her husband Clarence Nelson Jr.; and her siblings, Cortess Bullock, Eddie Carlson and Oakley Carlson.

She is survived by: her children, Carla Zimmerman (Keith) of Rocky Ridge, Maryland and Stewart Nelson (Shirley) of Ames, Iowa; her grandsons, Jeff Hemp of Maryland, Daniel Hemp of Maryland and Scott Nelson of Boone, Iowa; and her great grandchildren, Brandon Hemp, Logan Hemp, Nathaniel Hemp, Kali Nelson and Ayva Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the family to use at their discretion.
