He was predeceased by: his son Jared; and his father Loren. He is survived by: his former wife Theresa O'Rourke; his children, Zachery Ely of Boone and Taria Dillon (Matt Marchesano) of Boone; his mother Karen Ely of Boone; his sisters, Debi Pestotnik (Tim) of Boone and Lori Walters (Jim) of Boone; his grandsons, Jacob and Connor Kline of Boone; and his uncle Ed Abbott (Helen) of Ames. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
