He is survived by: his daughter Misty Pickens (Thomas Shaw) of Boone; his grandchildren, Quentin Pickens of Eldora and Jeanie Foster of Boone; his great grandchildren, Ruby Lee Pickens of Fort Dodge and Wynter Pickens of Fort Dodge; and his nephew Patrick Connally of Odessa, TX. He is also survived by several cousins and friends who became his brothers.
