He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Curell and Marilee Curell (Oxenford); his mother-in-law Lorene Franklin; and his sister Cathy. He is survived by: his spouse Kim; his son Andrew; his grandchild Ryan; his brother Ken Curell (Cathy) of Boone; his sons, Andy of Boone and Ryan (Emily) of Des Moines; and his grandchildren, Josie, William and Alexander.

Memorials may be made to the family and will be used to memorialize Jim with a stone bench to be placed at Honey Creek.
