He was predeceased by: his parents, Hilda Hittle Merrill and Henry Ernest Merrill; his siblings, Harold, Donald Merrill, Minnie Kinsey, Betty Hanawald and Darlene Peterson; and his parents-in-law, Thomas and Rosa Heaps.
He is survived by: his siblings, Barb Fosdick, Mary Page and Mark Buechler; his wife Ruth Merrill; his children, Ray Merrill, Jimmy Merrill, Cindy Byerly (Dennis) and Lori Mitchell (Tim); his grandchildren, Travis Merrill, Jim Merrill, Ryan Byerly, Bryce Byerly, Brenna Byerly, Michael Mitchell, Tom Mitchell and Danielle Mitchell; his great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Addisyn, Elston, Ivan, Ryker and Liam; his grandchildren, Don and Melissa Varner; and his great grandchildren, Michael and Dillion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Boone.
