He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Howard and Faye Howard (Ellwanger); his brother Larry Howard; his great grandchild Isaac Stecker; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Woodard, Lee Clabaugh and Judy Howard.

He is survived by: his wife Jo Ellen; his children, Debbie Helphrey (Cory), Cindy Duffy (Tim) and Craig Howard (Lorinda); his grandchildren, Chad Stecker (Holly), BJ Stecker (Kelly), Mark Stecker (Amanda), Jessica Helphrey-Infante (Sierra), Mike Duffy (Kim), Megan Field (Jamie), Reed Howard (Megan), Rachel Bradrick (Zach), Alex Howard (Katie) and Nate Howard (Tessa); and his siblings, Ken Howard, Rita Bertsch (Joe), Lois Buckley (Bob), Dixie Knight, Linda Woodard, Marilyn Clabaugh, Sherri Amendola and Connie Brown (John). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
