He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Shafer and Goldie Shafer (Russell); his sister Betty Bourlet; and his son-in-law Bill MacDonald. He is survived by: his wife Judy Shafer of Boone; his children, Angie MacDonald of Tucson, Arizona, Anissa Hoskins (Chris) of Montrose, Colorado and Alan Shafer of Tucson, Arizona; his grandchildren, Brody Hoskins, Joshua Hoskins, Mikayla Hoskins, Ty Hoskins, Keri MacDonald, Lane MacDonald and Kylie Shafer; and his great grandchild Jackson Reed.
