She was predeceased by: her parents, Lee Selvig and Nadine Selvig; her husband Henry Reekers; and her brother-in-law Mark. She is survived by: her son Scott Sickels; her sisters, Kay Flanders and Annie Rodgers (Joe); her nephew Rocky Stensland; her niece Hannah Brock (Brian); her great-niece Kaylin Brock; and her great-nephews, Michael and Matthew Brock.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Saint Olaf Lutheran Church (604 Humboldt Ave, Bode, IA 50519).

“I send my sincere condolences at the loss of Sandy. I knew her as Sandy Selvig. I grew up with Sandy in Ottosen. She and I went from kindergarten to high school graduation. So many memories....my very first "adventure" was with Sandy. She and I were on the bus riding home from kindergarten. I decided I wanted to go to her house. Sandy said sure. We got off the bus. Her mom, Nadine, made us a snack. Unbeknownst to me, Nadine called my Mom and let her know I was having fun with Sandy.”
