He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alvin Charles, Sr. and Ethel M. Ehlers (Hallmann); his wife Arlene Geurink; his children, Denise Frauen (Greg) of Eldridge and Brian Ehlers (Angela) of Walcott, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jamie Schwarz (Andy), Kody Frauen (Betty Strohman) and Rachel Ehlers; his great grandchild James Schwarz; his sister Frances Leamer of Bettendorf, Iowa.; and his brother-in-law Charles Leamer.

Memorials may be given to the Blue Grass Fire Department.
