He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmert V. Howk and Mabel O. Taylor Howk; his granddaughters, Brittany and Kaitlin Howk; and his sisters, LaVelle Hubbard, Helen Ellenberger and Fontelle Howk.
He is survived by: his children, Danny Howk (Lu Ann) of Bloomfield, Dean Howk of Lee's Summit, Missouri and RaeAnne Sieren of Knoxville, Iowa; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson of Bloomfield, Kelsey Warren (Joe) of Albia, Brandon Sieren of Ottumwa, Ryan Howk (Annie) of Irvine and Kyle Howk of Columbia, Missouri. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the Davis County Music Boosters.
