It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lynn Shumate (Bloomfield, Iowa), born in Ottumwa, Iowa, who passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Hinkel and Virginia Westoff Hinkel; her brother Terry Hinkel; and her in-laws, Burton and Betty Shumate.
She is survived by: her husband Rodney Shumate; her children, Jeff Shumate (Cindy) of Mt. Zion, Joel Shumate of Bloomfield and Holly Newberry (Justin) of Danville, Iowa; her grandchildren, Logan, MacKenzie, Peyton Shumate, Delaney, Dylan and Darby Newberry; her siblings, Gary Hinkel of Centerville, Iowa and Lori Irwin (Jim) of Tampa, Florida; and her sister-in-law Sharry Humphrey (Mike) of Bloomfield. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Along with her nursing roles, Lynn was also an active member of Chapter Q TTT, the Retired School Personnel group, and the Davis County School Foundation.
