He was predeceased by: his parent Jewell Smith Spurgeon. He is survived by: his mother Beverly Ann Crouse Spurgeon; his grandchildren, Dru, Joey Spurgeon, Josey Caldwell and Jewel; his wife Roberta Swafford; his siblings, Debbie Horn (Gary) and Greg Spurgeon (Tracy); and his children, Clint Spurgeon (Missi) of Indianola, Iowa. and Amy Caldwell of Ottumwa.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties.
