He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Boatman and Isabelle Marie Barker Boatman; and his sister-in-law Kathy Boatman. He is survived by: his parent-in-law Jan Kinnamon; his pet Max; his children, Ryan Boatman and Cayle Elliott (Tyler) of Altoona, Iowa; his brothers, Dr. Dennis Boatman of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Douglas Boatman (Jean) of Solon and Michael Boatman of Cedar Rapids; his close friend Candy Dawson of Bloomfield; and also, Ryan and Cayle.

A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Country Club.
