He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Irwin and Lora Hazel Widner Schindler; his nephew John Lowell Schindler; his siblings, Floyd Schindler, Harold Schindler (Sherleen) and Mildred Sample (Don); and his brother-in-law Wayne Luke (Sharlene).
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Schindler; his daughters, Shirley Couvillion (C. J.) of Van Meter, Carolyn Pickrell (Marvin) of Zephyrhills and Sandy Krogh (Doug) of Douglas, Wyoming; his niece Deb Schindler-Grim (Richard) of Bloomfield; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Luke Schindler of Agency. He is also survived by six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
