He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Mathias and Frankie Carr Mathias; his wife Waunita Jones; his grandson Ryan Mathias; and his stepgrandson Craig Smith.
He is survived by: his sons, Jim Mathias (Donna) of Birmingham, IA and John Mathias (Katrina) of Batavia, IA; his grandson Tyler Mathias; his stepgrandsons, Luke Smith and Randy Frail; his great grandchildren, Xavier, Bentley, Ryan, Kane and Hunter; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Paityn, Devyn, Mia, Kira, Riley, Chloe, Lily and Destiny. He is also survived by his family and his many friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Zion Bible Church (15918 IA-16, Douds, IA 52551). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Maple Hill Cemetery (531 Cedar St, Birmingham, IA 52535).
