He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Johnson and Sylvia Johnson; his son Erik; and his siblings, Weldon, Sandra and Ardath.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda; his children, Kristine Johnson of Edina, Kurt Johnson (Melissa Hebert) of Flossmoor, Matt Johnson (Julia O'Donnell) of Austin, Debbie Jackson (Josh) of Le Claire, Patty Johnson of Long Beach, Doug Wells (Laura) of Milan, Wendy Wood (Scott) of Rock Island and Shelly Wells Cain (Mike Ernster) of Davenport Iowa; his grandchildren, Georgia, Graham, Nora, Duncan, Malcolm, Samantha (Jonathon), Carly (Kurt), Molly (Josh Dyar), Allie (Steven), Branson (Brandi) and Tanner (Bailee); and his great grandchildren, Drew, Molly, Brailey, Isabella, Kinleigh, Jolene, Luke, Lylah, Landon, Avalee and Millie.
