He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel L. Wells and Annie Wells (Reagan); and his daughter Jacqua L. Thorpe. He is survived by: his wife Cleora L. Wells; his son Jackie R. Wells, Jr. (Sara); his grandchildren, John R. Thorpe (Brittany), Sierra Wells and Jackie R. Wells III; his great grandchildren, John R. Thorpe, Jr., Dexter Thorpe and Roman Wells Loggins; his sisters-in-law, Myrtle Graves and Novella Green; and his goddaughter Mikayla Noel Jones. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
