He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Merritt and Katherine Merritt. He is survived by: his wife Charlene; his children, Ed Junior, Brad (Cheryl) and Montse Madden (Rick); his great grandchildren, Ryan (Caitlin), Katie Kern (Joe), Amanda (Logan), Ahnquist, Drew, Paige and Emma Madden; and his siblings, John Merritt, Mary Ruggiero (Lenny), Jim Merritt (Alice), Don Merritt (Susie) and Bob Merritt (Kathy). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday, December 16th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A prayer was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home (614 Main St, Davenport, IA 52803). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (1506 Brown St, Bettendorf, IA 52722).
