He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurence Thompson and Mary Thompson (Whitek); his daughter Pam; and his close friend Benny. He is survived by: his wife Theresa Courter; his stepchildren, Carrey (Cathy), Brad (Cindy) and Jennifer; his former wife Nancy Thompson; his daughter Sue (Frank); and his siblings, Rick (Julie) and Pat (Jim). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Hope Lodge in Iowa City.
