She was predeceased by: her parents, Reuben Fekkers and Katherine Fekkers (Yakel); her husband Walter George Schmidt of Alexander; her half-brother Walter Fekkers; and her stepfather Jacob E. Pals.

She is survived by: her children, Linda Sheriff (Keith) and Michael of Hawaii; her grandchildren, Philip Sheriff (Krista), Brian Sheriff (Marcia), Erin Sheriff (Heather) and Steven Sheriff (Jenny); her sister Phyllis Ruiter (Merlin); and her half-sister Barbara Moore. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
