He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Behrens and Alma Behrens (Clausen); his daughter Robin Mary Vernon; his great grandchild Linkon Jeffrey Doolittle; his son-in-law Lloyd Banowetz; and his siblings, Mary Lou Williams and Edwin Behrens (Lavonne).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Smith; his daughters, Karry Banowetz and Lorie Ward (Mike); and his brother Richard Behrens (Carol). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
