He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Scholtes and Leora Scholtes (Sturm); his granddaughter Christine Scholtes; and his siblings, Leonard "Shep" Scholtes, Janet Schroeder, Eugene Scholtes, Ronald Kueter, Donald Scheckel, Bertha Miller, LaVern "Bud" Schmidt (Emma) and Don Galloway.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Diana May, Kathie Strang (Jeff), DelRay Scholtes, Mary O'Hara (Venson), Brent Scholtes (Sharon) and Brenda Medinger (Terry); his siblings, Roger Scholtes (Shirley), LaVonne Kueter and Louann Scheckel; and his siblings-in-law, Gerald Schroeder of John Miller, Becky Scholtes, Waneda Lloyd, Shirley Driscoll (Tom) and Janet Galloway. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lorin's name .
