As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Marian may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Milton Schmidt and Karen Schmidt (Svendson); her husband John "Jack" Modrell; her grandson Tyler Johnson; her siblings, Robert Schmidt and Audrey Beck; and her daughter-in-law Julie Modrell.
She is survived by: her children, John Samuel III of Holstein, IA, James Modrell (Stacey) of Moville, IA and Joyce Johnson (David) of Knoxville, TN; and her sister Elaine Holdren (Jack) of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (608 4th St, Battle Creek, IA 51006). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa (600 3rd St, Battle Creek, IA 51006).
