It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlys May Smith of Batavia, Iowa, born in Hancock, Minnesota, who passed away on March 11, 2021, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Sommer and Esther Allen Sommer; her stepmother Alice Sommer; her husband Gerald Smith; and her brother Delbert Sommer.
She is survived by: her children, Jerry Smith (Sue) of Arizona, Carol Kopp (Carl) of Douds, IA, Mary McLaughlin (Randy) of Bremen, AL, Laura Jones (Bob) of Washington, ME, Lyndon Smith of Haysville, IA, Luallen Dodson (Randy) of Davenport, IA, Lloyd Smith (Jean) of Birmingham, IA, Leo Smith of Dale, TX and Lanette Oliver (Weldon) of Luling, TX; and her sister Loreta Park of Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the mission's fund at the Calvary Baptist Church.
