He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Behnkendof and Bertha Behnkendof (Goetsch); his wife Arlene; his brother-in-law Ken Barkley; and his nephew Mike Barkley.

He is survived by: his children, Larry Behnkendorf of Bancroft, Jerry Behnkendorf (Dorine) of Algona and Peggy Hardisty (Ken) of Hampton, VA; and his sisters, Vera Barkley of Portland, OR and Marie Glawe of Northrup, MN. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
