He was predeceased by: his son Michael; and his grandson Dr. Alan Julius. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn; his children, Eugene Julius (Diane) of Mason City, Jim Julius (Rhea) of Titonka, Lori Hansen (Eric) of Garner, Susan Melohn (Ron) of Kanawha and Rodney Julius of Bancroft; his grandchildren, Ryan, Collin (Taylor), Chyenna (Kaden), Kyle, Janna, Stephanie (Logan), Abby, Luke and Jacob; his great grandchild James; his brother Tom Julius (Karen); and his sisters-in-law, Lila Hellman and JoAnn Hellman.
