He was predeceased by: his wife Judy Christenson; his parents, Clarence Schwanz and Irene Schwanz; his son Joel Schwanz; his brother Leo Schwanz; and his son-in-law Paul Eldal.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tammi Trites (Hank) of Granville and Jill Eldal of Moorland; his grandchildren, Adam, Hailey Schwanz of Fort Dodge and Josie Eldal of Moorland; his great grandchildren, Reeve, Alyson and Emma Schwanz; and his siblings, Charles Schwanz (Sondra) of Fort Dodge, Johanna McConahay (Larry) of Iowa City, Leah Segreto (Frank) of Fort Dodge and Rosie Martens (Roger) of Colorado.
