He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Paulsen and Leroy Paulsen; his former wife Bobbie; his son David; and his brothers, Ned and Chris Paulsen.

He is survived by: his daughters, Janice Irwin Sunbury and Jackie Paulsen Bellevue; his sisters, Norma Pattee, Marilyn Chapman of Avoca, Sharon Madsen Omaha and Beverly Camblin; his grandsons, Heath Paulsen Bellevue and Henry Paulsen Avoca; and his great grandchildren, Hayli, Saydi, Ava McKenna and Cruz. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
